Olszewski Wins Primary by 9 Votes

The results have not yet been certified, but after all the absentee and provisional votes have been counted, it appears that teacher and former delegate John Olszewski, Jr. has defeated state senator Jim Brochin for the Democratic nomination for Baltimore County Executive.

While Vicki Almond dominated early voting, Olszewski and Brochin earned enough votes on Election Day to leapfrog her and nearly tie for first place, with Olszewski clinging to a 42-vote lead out of 82,783 votes cast. As absentee ballots were counted, Olszewski’s lead narrowed all the way down to nine votes. Remember this next time anyone says your vote doesn’t matter!

Certification is expected in the next ten days, and following that, a candidate may request a recount, which I’m sure Brochin will do.
